Jump the Shark
Alright... finally did some web digging (translation - typed in www.jumptheshark.com into the web browser). Where does the phrase come from? "The aforementioned expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history. " -- The idea being that if you look at a series as a whole, there is an easily identifiable point after which it's all downhill.
Although if you read the comments on the voting page, I'd have to agree that the jumping point came much earlier when the writers lost their way and Fonz became the focus of the series.
Hmm, but looking at a few of the votes - jumping the shark isn't as easily identified as you might think. What turns one person off, may make no difference to another person.
And yes, I think EQ jumped the shark with the release of Luclin, or maybe when they gave CH to druids/shaman...
