16 hrs of sleep

Well, actually I feel better today then I thought I would. Usually, when I wake up with a headache, it forbodes ill for the rest of the day (if not 2 days). But when I woke up 4 hours later, my headache was pretty much gone (and not just dammed up by the ibuprofen) and I've actually been in a fairly good mood the past few days. Well, except that I either missed a court appointment or missed a deadline for paying a parking fine - so I got a nasty note on Thursday that I have to go down to the courthouse and see a constable on Tuesday morning and that they've got an arrest warrent out for me. Sometimes life seems to be stacked against me - if I had been well, I'd have paid the fine when I first got it instead of letting it sit for almost a month. But, I had also sent in all the paperwork at the beginning of last week, so maybe the two bits of mail passed in the night and I just have to clear matters up when I go in. Or, maybe I'll have to pay a fine.

Cloved Orange?

Well, here's something strange that I hadn't heard about before. If you look at the October 25, 2002 episode of Striptease someone gives Rachel a orange covered with cloves and spins some yarn about having to kiss the person who hands you the orange.

Well, actually there's a web page about Cloved Oranges, including speculation about the origins, but mostly concerned with describing how the "tradition" now works.

Bleh

Well heck, that went about as badly as I expected. Tried to go to sleep without depending on the Ambien to knock me out; instead I ended up staring at the ceiling until 4am when I resorted to plan B and took one of my Sonata pills. So now I'm starting the day on a few hours of sleep full of nightmares and a headache already throbbing (today's gonna be a rough one).

Today's Special SPAM

This one's a rich one... the first bit of social-engineering is infering that it's someone that I've forgotten about / communicated with a while ago (strike 1). Oh, but then we have a new twist... (at least, I hadn't heard this one before)... she was out of town caring for her mom. Social-engineering attempt #2 and #3 in a single-sentence. #2 is the attempt to justify social-engineering attempt #1 by providing a possible reason that you hadn't heard from the sender in so long, and #3 is the attempt to make you think they're a caring person.

It gets predictable from there on... paragraph #2 is the standard "I'm a nice looking gal who doesn't care about looks", while paragraph #3 is the standard hook (here's where you can go to see my pictures). One twist on this one, the sender says she doesn't *think* they charge when you sign up for the site.

Too tired at the moment to bother looking up all the different domains mentioned (babe-mail.net, realhotpersonals.com, Wycom Systems, mailcleaner.org). But suffice it to say, this one is pure spam.
