DVD Coasters

Two coasters so far while attempting to record with Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 2x media... at this point I'm not sure if it's the media, bad luck, the DVD recorder, the firmware, or what. At least, they seem to be coasters because they won't read on the other 2 DVD drives that I have. I've not had any problems using DirectCD and DVD+RW platters so far, so my next trick is to record a DVD+RW as a regular DVD and see if I can read it on my other 2 systems.

Update: Hmm, writing to the DVD+RW using Roxio's CD Creator software produced a coaster as well (lots and lots and lots of CRC32 errors and corrupted/invalid directories... only 2.9Gb of the 3.94Gb was readable).
