System Performance

So I'm currently drooling / dreaming about upgrading my slower game system and looking at the performance numbers that I got vs what's folks have posted at PCMark2002's online database. At the moment, it looks like the following are average, top-of-the-line (but not over-clocked) scores:

CPU: ~6000 MEM: ~4500 HDD: ~600-900

Looking at my scores:

AthlonXP 1800+
512Mb PC2100 DDR
mirrored 7200rpm IBM DeskStar ATA/100 HDs
CPU: 4500 MEM: 3000 HDD: 550

Athlon 1Ghz
768Mb PC133
mirrored 7200rpm IBM DeskStar ATA/100 HDs
CPU: 2500 MEM: 2000 HDD: 575

So, upgrading the Athlon 1Ghz system would see a significant performance boost (easily doubled), but the AthlonXP 1800+ system would only be a marginal upgrade (33 percent or so). Decisions, decisions...
