Anime Backgrounds 1400x1050

Just a quick dump of what anime wallpapers I'm using on the laptop this month. They're all sized to 1400x1050 and generally darkened by about 50% from the original to make for a background that doesn't interfere with the foreground windows. Sometimes, if I'm sizing and image up and it doesn't look okay, I'll apply special effects to the image in Jasc Paint Shop Pro.

Trigun and Bean Bandit (untouched except for resize and darkening)

Tenchi Muyo - Ryo Oki (darkened, with edge enhancement or something)

Priss from Bubblegum Crisis and Trigun (fine oil brush filter effect)

Good Sci-Fi stuff

Just finished reading The Icarus Hunt by Timothy Zahn again. Zahn is one of my favorite authors (I have almost all of his books except for the Star Wars ones). Good book, sort of a mix between a mystery novel and an adventure novel. Basically, a crew is hired one-by-one off the docks of an outlying world to pilot a ship back to Earth. All the while, they're being chased by an alien race and there seems to be a murderer and saboteur aboard. It's not really a long book, even at 450 pages it suffers from being too short and trying to cover too much ground, but it's still a good read.

At the moment, I have probably half-a-dozen unfinished books lying around (the Heechee quadrilogy by Pohl, Mote in God's Eye / Gripping Hand, last part of the Dune series, Chanur's Legacy, Starship Troopers, Kiln People... to name just a few.) And of course, all of other summer reading that is sitting in a big dusty pile in the corner.

(It's supposed to be a busy week at work since I'm covering for my co-lead, but things have been very quiet so far on a Monday.)
