Corish's wish list for gear (update)
I got my Whitemend Pants made last night, so I'm now sitting at the following for stats (self-buffed, no potions or stat food):
Health: 7670 Mana: 9435 Healing: 1484 MP5: 236 STA: 431 INT: 473 SPI: 406
One Handed Weapons
Currently using:
[Hammer of the Penitent] +227 Healing 6 MP5 16 INT 13 SPI - Got this in Mechanar and I'm very happy with it.
Looking for:
[Shard of the Virtuous] +348 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 20 INT 0 SPI - Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan. Great stats, only a so-so look (it's very big and very glowy blue). I'll probably pass on this if it does drop as I have my eyes set on the next two items.
[Light's Justice] +382 Healing 0 MP5 16 STA 21 INT 20 SPI - Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan, nice gold hammer with green gem accents. No MP5, but 20 SPI (roughly 4 MP5).
[Gavel of Naaru Blessings] +464 Healing 0 MP5 42 STA 28 INT 0 SPI - 150 Badges of Justice. Lots of +healing power. - Looks mace-like, with a golden bird motif.
At the moment, I'm saving up Badges of Justice for the 150-badge Gavel. Which would give me 82 more healing power and better stats then the hammer that drops off of Prince in Karazhan. There's also a sceptre that drops off of Lady Vashj in SSC which is comparable to the 150-badge gavel. Basically, if Light's Justice drops, then I'll use the saved up badges for other gear upgrades. But if I get to 150 badges first, then I'll just go buy the gavel.
Off-Hand Items
Currently using:
[Aran's Soothing Sapphire] +51 Healing 8 MP5 0 STA 22 INT 0 SPI
Next major upgrade comes from either Black Temple or Hyjal Summit. The 25-badge [Tears of Heaven] is 75 healing and 6 MP5 with no other stats. The [Windcaller's Orb] from Cenarion Expedition (Exalted) reputation is 64 healing 16 INT 12 SPI and no MP5.
Neck Items
I went ahead and bought the Living Ruby Pendant off of the Auction House:
[Living Ruby Pendant] +35 Healing 6 MP5 24 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - About 90g at the Auction House.
[Necklace of Eternal Hope] +48 Healing 4 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice. Yes it has a bit more healing power and INT, but the pendant has a 10-charge use effect which is quite useful. So of the two items, I think the pendant is the better choice.
[Shining Chain of the Afterworld] +46 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 21 INT 19 SPI - drop off of Netherspite in Karazhan.
[Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration] +70 Healing 7 MP5 19 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Requires exalted status with Shattered Sun Offensive (easily gotten as I'm running non-stop dailies?) - 4% chance of Aldor proc granting "Light's Salvation" which adds +220 healing and +74 spell damage for 10 seconds.
[Brooch of Nature's Mercy] +75 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 24 INT 19 SPI - Also has 33 spell haste - Drops from Akil'Zon in Zul'Aman. - The lack of STA is worrying as I'm struggling to stay above 7500 self-buffed for Karazhan
Head Equipment
What I have now is [Light-Collar of the Incarnate] +73 Healing 6 MP5 28 STA 34 INT 25 SPI.
[Hood of the Third Eye] +90 Healing 13 MP5 36 STA 40 INT 0 SPI - (1) red, (1) yellow, (1) blue socket, +2 MP5 for socket bonus - Drops from Hex Lord Malacrass in Zul'Aman.
The other alternative is [Cowl of the Avatar] which requires a "Helm of the Vanquished Defender" token from SSC (Lady Vashj). It's part of the Avatar Rainment. The head, hands and legs drop in SSC and the shoulders and chest drop in TK:Eye.
Wrist Equipment
What I have is [Wristguards of Tranquil Thought] +55 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 17 INT 16 SPI.
In fact, the WoTT are probably the best, even past Karazhan due to the socket. The next upgrade is then [Wraps of Purification] from SSC (Hydross the Unstable).
Hands / Gloves
I now have:
[Handwraps of the Incarnate] +57 Healing 10 MP5 28 STA 26 INT 18 SPI
The next possible upgrade is probably from SSC (Leotheras the Blind) which would be my T6 token piece.
Back / Cloak
This is a spot that I need to examine more closely. I have a [Cloak of Healing Rays] +33 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 13 INT 15 SPI there which looks very nice with the Primal Mooncloth set. So I've kept it, even though it's only a L63 item that I've had since winning it back at L62. There's only a handful of upgrades that look nice and go with the PMC set:
[Cloak of Scintillating Auras] +42 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 16 INT 18 SPI - Zereketh the Unbound in the Arcatraz, a gold cloak similar in looks to the Cloak of Healing Rays.
[Kharmaa's Shroud of Hope] +51 Healing 6 MP5 34 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - 60 Badgets of Justice, white cloak with gold trim. - If I don't end up buying the 150-badge hammer, I'm very likely to purchase this. On the other hand, we're downing Prince in Kara reguarly, so I should be able to get Prince's drop.
[Light-Touched Stole of Altruism] +55 Healing 0 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - Exarch Maladaar in the Auchenai Crypts (heroic mode), nice white cloak but no SPI or MP5.
Kharazhan drops are:
[Stainless Cloak of the Pure Hearted] +53 Healing 7 MP5 22 STA 23 INT 0 SPI - White cloak with gold trim. - Drops from Prince in Karazhan
Upgrades after this point come from TK:Eye or BT.
I'll probably enchant my cloak with [Enchant Cloak - Subtlety] or +7 to all resists or +15 to Shadow resist.
Rings
[Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Ring of Spiritual Precision] +0 Healing 7 MP5 13 STA 18 INT 15 SPI
Both rings are enchanted with the +20 healing enchant.
Possible upgrades:
[Band of Halos] +46 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice, this is probably the replacement for the Ring of Spiritual Precision. If I don't get the 150-badge hammer, this is a strong possibility.
[Anveena's Touch] +66 Healing 11 MP5 27 STA 19 INT 0 SPI - 60 Badges of Justice - Another strong possibility. It's definitely an upgrade over the Band of Halos, but possibly not worth the extra 35 badges.
[Violet Signet: Friendly] +42 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 18 INT 12 SPI [Violet Signet: Honored] +48 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 15 SPI [Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Violet Signet: Exalted] +55 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 23 INT 17 SPI
Trinkets
Currently, I'm using:
[Auslese's Light Channeler] +59 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI [Scarab of the Infinite Cycle] +70 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI
Which is actually a pair of really good trinkets for a healing priest. The scarab cuts my 2.5 sec greater heal down to 2.08 sec when it procs (which it does moderately often). The light channeler lets my next heal within 10 seconds cost 215 less mana (with a short 2 minute cooldown).
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that I want to replace either trinket before I get to SSC or Black Temple. Although I may replace the Light Channeler with:
[Essence of the Martyr] +84 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Use: Boosts +healing by 297 for 20 seconds - 41 Badges (G'eras in Shattrath)
[Ribbon of Sacrifice] +73 Healing 0 MP5 0 INT 0 SPI - Use: Boosts +healing by 30 to 150 based on # of heals given - Drops from Opera in Karazhan (all events)
Leg Equipment
I have [Whitemend Pants] +62 Healing 11 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 0 SPI
[Adorned Supernal Legwraps] +114 Healing 0 MP5 27 STA 40 INT 42 SPI - (1) blue and (1) red - 100 Badges of Justice - These are *very* tempting because they are just outstanding. On the downside, it would take 6-8 weeks to earn another 100 badges.
Karazhan drops:
[Pantaloons of Repentence] +68 Healing 0 MP5 27 STA 34 INT 26 SPI - (2) blue and (1) red socket = 6 MP5 plus ~5 MP5 from the 26 spirit. - Drops off of Netherspite - I would pass on this unless I'm the only one who needs it
Feet Equipment
Wearing: [Boots of the Incorrupt] +57 Healing 8 MP5 24 STA 24 INT 23 SPI
[Boots of the Long Road] +73 Healing 9 MP5 25 STA 26 INT 22 SPI - non-BoP pattern from SSC or The Eye (raid zones), but the crafted result is BoP - Basically equivalent to the boots that drop from Shade of Aran in Karazhan, but with a bit more +healing.
[Slippers of Dutiful Mending] +86 Healing 0 MP5 28 STA 25 INT 34 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice - I would gain almost 30 healing, but give up around 3 MP5. - Not a high priority upgrade for spending badges on.
Wands
I'm using [Wand of the Netherwing] +16 Healing 19 STA
Upgrades:
[Carved Witch Doctor's Stick] 175.7 DPS +18 Healing 0 MP5 9 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - Has a blue socket, so can be boosted another 9 Healing and 2 MP5. - 25 Badges of Justice
[Blue Diamond Witchwand] 161.0 DPS +29 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 13 INT 11 SPI - Wizard of Oz event in Karazhan
[Luminescent Rod of the Naaru] 177.3 DPS +35 Healing 6 MP5 0 STA 14 INT 0 SPI - Drops from Morogrim Tidewalker in Serpentshrine Cavern.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

[Shockwave Truncheon] +317 Healing 6 MP5 24 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Murmur in the Shadow Labyrinth (Heroic). Has a lot of STA, but no INT/SPI, so I'm on the fence about it. It would depend on looks whether I would go after it.
[Gavel of Pure Light] +299 Healing 8 MP5 12 STA 12 INT 0 SPI - Exalted reward with Sha'tar. Which will probably take me a long time to attain.
After that, I'll be waiting for either of the following from Karazhan:
[Shard of the Virtuous] +348 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 20 INT 0 SPI - Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan. Great stats, only a so-so look (it's very big and very glowy blue).

Possible upgrades:
[Band of Halos] +46 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice, this is probably the replacement for the Keeper's Ring of Piety. Assuming that I don't get something from Karazhan off of the Prince (which is +68 healing with 12 MP5).
[Anveena's Touch] +66 Healing 11 MP5 27 STA 19 INT 0 SPI - 60 Badges of Justice
[Violet Signet: Friendly] +42 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 18 INT 12 SPI [Violet Signet: Honored] +48 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 15 SPI [Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Violet Signet: Exalted] +55 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 23 INT 17 SPI
Trinkets
Currently, I'm using:
[Auslese's Light Channeler] +59 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI [Scarab of the Infinite Cycle] +70 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI

[Essence of the Martyr] +84 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Use: Boosts +healing by 297 for 20 seconds - 41 Badges (G'eras in Shattrath)
Leg Equipment
I have [Imbued Netherweave Pants] +30 Healing 10 MP5 39 STA 12 INT 0 SPI
[Pants of the Naaru] +77 Healing 0 MP5 27 STA 22 INT 25 SPI - Netherstorm quest, but I give up at least 5 MP5. I don't think they're worth it, even though they'd give me +47 healing.
[Achromic Trousers of the Naaru] +101 Healing 0 MP5 34 STA 35 INT 0 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice, but zero mana regen (giving up 10 MP5), so not really a desireable option either. - Plus I don't want to spend Badges of Justice unless I absolutely have to.
[Pontiff's Pantaloons of Prophecy] +55 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 27 INT 24 SPI - Captain Skarloc in Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Heroic) - (1) red (2) blue sockets, which means it could be boosted a bit to provide (6) MP5, but I'd still lose out on 27 STA, overall it would be an upgrade over the Imbued Netherweave Pants (once gemmed).
[Pontifex Kilt] +66 Healing 0 MP5 25 STA 29 INT 27 SPI - Warlord Kalithresh in the Steamvault (Heroic) - (1) red (1) blue (1) yellow socket, so it can be boosted to provide (6) MP5 along with the ~5 MP5 from the 27 spirit. This would be a definite upgrade over the Imbued Netherweave Pants. These are basically equivalent to the Whitemend Pants.
If I happen to get the Whitemend Pants pattern (from Dalliah the Doomsayer in The Arcatraz), I may go ahead and make those:
[Whitemend Pants] +62 Healing 11 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - (1) red (1) blue (1) yellow socket, so it can be boosted to provide (6) more MP5 along with a good bit more healing power. - I plan on getting these made now that I've found a tailor that both knows the pattern and is someone that I trust.
[Achromic Trousers of the Naaru] +101 Healing 0 MP5 34 STA 35 INT 0 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice - Again, I'd prefer not to spend badges if I don't have to.
- Drops off of Netherspite
Feet Equipment
Wearing: [Boots of the Incorrupt] +57 Healing 8 MP5 24 STA 24 INT 23 SPI
[Boots of the Long Road] +73 Healing 9 MP5 25 STA 26 INT 22 SPI - non-BoP pattern from SSC or The Eye (raid zones), but the crafted result is BoP - Basically equivalent to the boots that drop from Shade of Aran in Karazhan
[Slippers of Dutiful Mending] +86 Healing 0 MP5 28 STA 25 INT 34 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice
[Blue Diamond Witchwand] 161.0 DPS +29 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 13 INT 11 SPI - Wizard of Oz event in Karazhan - The 25 badge wand is definitely superior from the DPS standpoint
Enchants
I still need to get to Revered (Exalted?) with Honor Hold in order to buy the +healing enchant item for my helm.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

Corish's gear wishlist (update)
I'm now sitting at the following for stats (self-buffed, no potions or stat food):
Health: 7420 Mana: 9300 Healing: 1200 MP5: 224 STA: 421 INT: 465 SPI: 376
Things I need to work on:
- STA is dropping down to 420, I need to push that back up to 425.
- I'd like to get SPI up to 400.
- More +healing. I need to cross +1400 or so.
- INT: I may push to get to 475 INT.
- MP5: I need to stay above 220. The 2.4 patch changed how MP5 is calculated, so I regen a good bit more mana per 5 seconds then before (I was around 180 prior to the change).
- I need to get Enchanting up to 375 an obtain some of the less common recipes. And to be able to enchant my rings with +healing power. I'm at 360 enchanting at the moment, so I'm close.
One Handed Weapons
Currently using:
[Hammer of the Penitent] +227 Healing 6 MP5 16 INT 13 SPI - Got this in Mechanar and I'm very happy with it.
Looking for:
[Light's Justice] +382 Healing 0 MP5 16 STA 21 INT 20 SPI - Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan, nice gold hammer with green gem accents. No MP5, but 20 SPI (roughly 4 MP5).
[Gavel of Naaru Blessings] +464 Healing 0 MP5 42 STA 28 INT 0 SPI - 150 Badges of Justice. Lots of +healing power.
Off-Hand Items
Currently using:
[Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm] +33 Healing 6 MP5 0 STA 15 INT 15 SPI
There's also:
[Lamp of Peaceful Repose] +35 Healing 6 MP5 16 STA 18 INT 0 SPI - Dalliah the Doomsayer in the the Arcatraz. - I'd probably switch to this instead of the [Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm] if it dropped.
[Lordaeron Medical Guide] +46 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 10 INT 16 SPI - Lieutenant Drake in the Escape from Durnholde Keep (Heroic) - Likely the best upgrade, even into Karazhan. I'd still prefer the lamp, but having a book in my off-hand is good for RP purposes.
Karazhan drops:
[Signet of Unshakable Faith] +37 Healing 0 MP5 19 STA 21 INT 22 SPI - Drops from Moroes in Karazhan. The stats on it are pretty good, although I'd give up maybe 2-3 MP5. Well worth rolling on.
[Aran's Soothing Sapphire] +51 Healing 8 MP5 0 STA 22 INT 0 SPI - Also a so-so piece compared to the others. I'd probably pass on it because all it has is INT.
Karazhan Drops:
[Shining Chain of the Afterworld] +46 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 21 INT 19 SPI - drop off of Netherspite in Karazhan.
Head Equipment
What I have now is [Halo of Transcendence] +48 Healing 0 MP5 17 STA 27 INT 22 SPI, which is a very nice piece from Onyxia. Upgrades for this are going to be a bit few and far between:
[Scintillating Headdress of Second Sight] +73 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 27 INT 32 SPI - Shirrak the Dead Watcher in Auchenai Crypts (Heroic) - Probably one of the few upgrades prior to Karazhan
[Cowl of Naaru Blessings] +66 Healing 0 MP5 28 STA 29 INT 23 SPI - Has both a BLUE and a META socket, so can be boosted - 50 Badge of Justice
I'll probably chase after the Cowl of Naaru, assuming that I don't happen to get a Karazhan drop prior to getting 50 Badges of Justice. On the other hand, there are probably other items that I should buy with Badges of Justice first. So getting the drop from Auchenai Crypts may be my best hope.
Karazhan drops:
[Light-Collar of the Incarnate] +73 Healing 6 MP5 28 STA 34 INT 25 SPI - Bought with a Helm of the Fallen Defender (drops from Prince Malchezaar in the Karazhan instance.) - (1) META (1) BLUE sockets - Looks like a stiff high collar that is white - Part of the Incarnate Raiment set
[Headdress of the High Potentate] +81 Healing 0 MP5 37 STA 38 INT 32 SPI - obtained by winning the Chess Event in Karazhan - Looks like a silver floating halo type crown with purple gems
Wrist Equipment
There are hardly any good choices here. What I have is [Shattrath Wraps] +21 Healing 0 MP5 15 STA 15 INT (with socketed gems). About the only possible upgrade is:
[Wristguards of Tranquil Thought] +55 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 17 INT 16 SPI - 35 Badges of Justice - Has a yellow socket, Shattrath Wraps had a red socket.
[Bands of the Benevolent] +46 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 20 INT 18 SPI - Talon King Ikiss in the Sethekk Halls (Heroic)
In fact, the WoTT are probably the best, even past Karazhan due to the socket. So I'm going to buy a Royal Nightseye and replace the Royal Shadow Draenite in my current Shattrath Wraps and work on Badges of Justice.
Karazhan drop:
[Bands of Indwelling] +46 Healing 0 MP5 22 STA 18 INT 20 SPI - Drops from Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan.
Hands / Gloves
I now have:
[Handwraps of the Incarnate] +57 Healing 10 MP5 28 STA 26 INT 18 SPI
The next possible upgrade is probably from Hyjal Summit - Azgalor.
[Light-Touched Stole of Altruism] +55 Healing 0 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - Exarch Maladaar in the Auchenai Crypts (heroic mode), nice white cloak but no SPI or MP5. Personally, I'd rather go with the Bishop's Cloak due to the 8 MP5.
Kharazhan drops are:
[Stainless Cloak of the Pure Hearted] +53 Healing 7 MP5 22 STA 23 INT 0 SPI - White cloak with gold trim.
I'll probably enchant my cloak with [Enchant Cloak - Subtlety] or +7 to all resists or +15 to Shadow resist.
Rings
Another area that I need to re-examine. There's a lot of options, so I need to sit down and decide which ones I like. What I have now are:
[Heirloom Signet of Convalescence] +44 Healing 0 MP5 7 STA 11 INT 5 SPI [Keeper's Ring of Piety] +42 Healing 7 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 18 SPI
Basically, one ring will be for +healing and MP5, the other ring will be for +healing and stats.
[Violet Signet: Friendly] +42 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 18 INT 12 SPI [Violet Signet: Honored] +48 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 15 SPI [Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Violet Signet: Exalted] +55 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 23 INT 17 SPI Trinkets
[Achromic Trousers of the Naaru] +101 Healing 0 MP5 34 STA 35 INT 0 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice
Karazhan drops:
[Pantaloons of Repentence] +68 Healing 0 MP5 27 STA 34 INT 26 SPI - (2) blue and (1) red socket = 6 MP5 plus ~5 MP5 from the 26 spirit.
Feet Equipment
Wearing [Jeweled Boots of Sanctification] +55 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 25 INT 0 SPI
[Boots of the Long Road] +73 Healing 9 MP5 25 STA 26 INT 22 SPI - non-BoP pattern from SSC or The Eye (raid zones), but the crafted result is BoP - Basically equivalent to the boots that drop from Shade of Aran in Karazhan
[Boots of the Incorrupt] +57 Healing 8 MP5 24 STA 24 INT 23 SPI - Shade of Aran in Karazhan.
[Slippers of Dutiful Mending] +86 Healing 0 MP5 28 STA 25 INT 34 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice
Wands
The only wand on my list is:
[Carved Witch Doctor's Stick] 175.7 DPS +18 Healing 0 MP5 9 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - Has a blue socket, so can be boosted another 9 Healing and 2 MP5. - 25 Badges of Justice
Enchants
Once I reach 370 enchanting and gain the repuation needed to buy the recipe, I can enchant my rings with +20 Healing (each ring). Which is the only enchant that can be placed on rings.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

Corish's re-spec
Going to re-spec Corish slightly:
Discipline Tree - 23 points
T1 - Unbreakable Will (5/5) T2 - Improved Power Word: Fortitude (2/2) T2 - Improved Power Word: Shield (3/3) T2 - Silent Resolve (2/5) - in place of Martyrdom (2/2) T3 - Meditation (3/3) T4 - Mental Agility (5/5) T5 - Divine Spirit (1/1) T5 - Improved Divine Spirit (2/2)
Holy Tree - 38 points
T1 - Improved Renew (3/3) T1 - Holy Specialization (5/5) T1 - Healing Focus (2/2) T2 - Divine Fury (5/5) T3 - Holy Nova (1/1) T3 - Inspiration (3/3) T4 - Improved Healing (3/3) T5 - Healing Prayers (2/2) T5 - Spirit of Redemption (1/1) T5 - Spritual Guidance (2/5) T6 - Spiritual Healing (5/5) T7 - Holy Concentration (3/3) T8 - Empowered Healing (3/5)
I'm not entirely comfortable with giving up Lightwell (HOLY) or not taking Inner Focus (DISC). If I respec again, it will be to take Inner Focus (DISC). By taking the 3 points in Inspiration (HOLY), I gave up 3 points in Spiritual Guidance (HOLY). This results in about a 50 point drop in my +healing power.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

Corish's current gear wishlist
I'm now sitting at the following for stats (self-buffed, no potions or stat food):
Health: 7420 Mana: 9300 Healing: 1220 MP5: 224 STA: 421 INT: 465 SPI: 376
Things I need to work on:
- STA is dropping down to 420, I need to push that back up to 425.
- I'd like to get SPI up to 400.
- More +healing. I need to cross +1400 or so.
- INT: I may push to get to 475 INT.
- MP5: I need to stay above 220. The 2.4 patch changed how MP5 is calculated, so I regen a good bit more mana per 5 seconds then before (I was around 180 prior to the change).
- I need to get Enchanting up to 375 an obtain some of the less common recipes.
One Handed Weapons
Currently using:
[Hammer of the Penitent] +227 Healing 6 MP5 16 INT 13 SPI - Got this in Mechanar and I'm very happy with it.
Looking for:
[Light's Justice] +382 Healing 0 MP5 16 STA 21 INT 20 SPI - Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan, nice gold hammer with green gem accents. No MP5, but 20 SPI (roughly 4 MP5).
[Violet Signet: Friendly] +42 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 18 INT 12 SPI [Violet Signet: Honored] +48 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 15 SPI [Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Violet Signet: Exalted] +55 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 23 INT 17 SPI Trinkets

[Achromic Trousers of the Naaru] +101 Healing 0 MP5 34 STA 35 INT 0 SPI - 75 Badges of Justice, but zero mana regen (giving up 10 MP5), so not really a desireable option either.

Feet Equipment
Wearing [Imbued Netherweave Boots] +23 Healing 8 MP5 30 STA 21 INT 0 SPI
[Slippers of Serenity] +35 Healing 0 MP5 10 STA 22 INT 15 SPI - Exarch Maladaar in Auchenai Crypts - (1) red (1) blue socket so could provide 4 MP5, plus the ~3 MP5 from 15 spirit
[Light-Woven Slippers] +29 Healing 10 MP5 19 STA 24 INT 13 SPI - Darkweaver Syth in Sethekk Halls - Lose out on a bit of STA, but pickup more mana regen
[Jeweled Boots of Sanctification] +55 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 25 INT 0 SPI - Warbringer O'mrogg in The Shattered Halls - I'm not fond of the look, but they might hide well under the robes
Wands
The only wand on my list is:
[Carved Witch Doctor's Stick] 175.7 DPS +18 Healing 0 MP5 9 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - Has a blue socket, so can be boosted another 9 Healing and 2 MP5. - 25 Badges of Justice

More gear choices for Corish
So, it was a profitable two weeks. I got a few of the drops that I was missing, added some enchants (both from enchanters and from Heavy Knothide Armor Kits) and I'm now sitting at the following for stats (self-buffed, no potions or stat food):
Health: 7500 Mana: 8750 Healing: 1110 MP5: 167 STA: 428 INT: 428 SPI: 334
Things I need to work on:
- More +healing. I need to cross +1200 or +1250. Although +1100 is fine for entering Karazhan, additional healing power is needed for running heroics. Heroic dungeon fights are short, brutal, nasty affairs where +healing is more valuable then mana regen. While raid fights like those in Karazhan are often more about endurance and mana regen.
- INT: Without giving up much STA or SPI, I need to push my INT to around 450 if possible. I may let my STA fall to as low as 410.
- MP5: I would like to get up to 180 MP5, although 167 is very respectable. That may mean a bit more SPIRIT (which also helps me in other areas), or simply better gear and gems.
One of the things I worked on this past week was dropping herbalism in favor of enchanting. There are some self-only enchants that can be applied to rings / necklaces which will help me boost my stats.
I also healed my first Heroic dungeon with only +1050 healing power. It was rough and I died a lot, but we finished the dungeon. Heroics are all about aggro control, and if a DPS person catched aggro they'll probably die before you can save them.
One Handed Weapons
So the first thing I need to chase is a better 1H weapon. The one I have now is [Mogor's Anointing Club], which is +160 Healing 5 MP5 13 INT 19 STA. Which is a pretty decent weapon. I did go ahead and add a +30 INT enchant to it. There are a few options, pre-Kara, that are better:
[Lightsworn Hammer] +227 Healing 8 MP5 11 INT 12 STA - Drops from Warchief Kargath Bladefist in the Shattered Halls (10%)
[Hammer of the Penitent] +227 Healing 6 MP5 16 INT 13 SPI - Drops from Mechano-Lord Capacitus in The Mechanar (15%)
[Dathrohan's Ceremonial Hammer] +227 Healing 0 MP5 13 STA 14 INT 18 SPI - Captain Skarloc in Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Heroic) - It lacks MP5, but has 18 SPI (which is about 3 MP5). So if I already have the hammer from Shattered Halls or Mechanar, I would probably pass on this.
[Shockwave Truncheon] +317 Healing 6 MP5 24 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Murmur in the Shadow Labyrinth (Heroic).
[Gavel of Pure Light] +299 Healing 8 MP5 12 STA 12 INT 0 SPI - Exalted reward with Sha'tar. Which will probably take me a long time to attain.
After that, I'll be waiting for either of the following from Karazhan:
[Shard of the Virtuous] +348 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 20 INT 0 SPI [Light's Justice] +382 Healing 0 MP5 16 STA 21 INT 20 SPI
The +227 healing weapons would put me up around 1180 healing. One handed weapons are a major component of getting +healing, so I'll sacrifice a bit of stats or MP5 in order to push up my +healing. Except for that PvP reward hammer, which has too many compromises even though it's a +375 healing weapon.
Off-Hand Items
Probably an easy element to find upgrades for as I'm still using a L62 weapon, which is the [Mistyreed Torch of the Prophet] +28 Healing 13 INT 13 SPI. Probably the easiest upgrade to get is:
[Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm] +33 Healing 6 MP5 0 STA 15 INT 15 SPI - Which is a reward from the quest "Ally of the Netherwing", starts with Mordenai at Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley. I've started this quest line, but it's on hold until others catch up with us and we can go duo/trio it.
[Voodoo Shaker] +55 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 20 INT 25 SPI - Requires 35 Badges of Justice. Worth approximately 5 MP5. Compares well with the medical guide and the book.
[Windcaller's Orb] +64 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 16 INT 12 SPI - Exalted Cenarion Expedition reputation reward. - Only a so-so piece (approximately 2 MP5 from the 12 SPI).
Karazhan drops:
[Signet of Unshakable Faith] +37 Healing 0 MP5 19 STA 21 INT 22 SPI - Which I'll probably pass on, since some of the others are better.
[Aran's Soothing Sapphire] +51 Healing 8 MP5 0 STA 22 INT 0 SPI - Also a so-so piece compared to the others.
Now that I've upgraded to that, I'll be waiting for [Shining Chain of the Afterworld] to drop off of Netherspite in Karazhan.
Hands / Gloves
I now have: [Prismatic Mittens of Mending] +55 Healing 7 MP5 23 STA 26 INT
The next possible upgrade is.
[Light-Blessed Bonds] +75 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 22 INT 25 SPI - 60 Badges of Justice, has (1) yellow and (1) blue socket. - Probably worth about 9 MP5 based on the 25 SPI and the (2) sockets. - On the other hand, I don't really care for the look of them over the mittens.
After that, it's time to wait for Handwraps of the Incarnate (+57 healing 13 MP5) from Karazhan. The Gloves of Saintly Blessings would socket out as around +65 healing and about 9 MP5. Both should match up well with my PMC robe.
[Bishop's Cloak] +46 Healing 8 MP5 16 STA 17 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice, a deep dark purple cloak (might look okay with the PMC set)
[Kharmaa's Shroud of Hope] +51 Healing 6 MP5 34 STA 15 INT 0 SPI - 60 Badgets of Justice, white cloak with gold trim.
[Violet Signet: Friendly] +42 Healing 0 MP5 18 STA 18 INT 12 SPI [Violet Signet: Honored] +48 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 15 SPI [Violet Signet: Revered] +51 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 22 INT 17 SPI [Violet Signet: Exalted] +55 Healing 0 MP5 24 STA 23 INT 17 SPI - I'm pretty sure that by the time I am ready for Karazhan, I'll have reached at least Friendly with the Violet Eye faction. And after about half a dozen runs in Karazhan, I'll get up to Honored.
Karazhan drops:
[Pantaloons of Repentence] +68 Healing 0 MP5 27 STA 34 INT 26 SPI - (2) blue and (1) red socket = 6 MP5 plus ~5 MP5 from the 26 spirit.
Feet Equipment

Corish hits 70! And now for final gear choices
So my priest finally hit L70 today. Which means that I can wear my Primal Mooncloth set and finally see where I'm lacking in stats. Ultimately, I want stats like:
Healing: +1200 to +1500 (have 1043) MP5: 150-200 (have 165) INT: 425 (have 399) STA: 425 (have 394) SPI: 350 (have 331)
One Handed Weapons
So the first thing I need to chase is a better 1H weapon. The one I have now is [Mogor's Anointing Club], which is +160 Healing 5 MP5 13 INT 19 STA. Which is a pretty decent weapon. There are basically 2 options, pre-Kara, that are better:
[Lightsworn Hammer] +227 Healing 8 MP5 11 INT 12 STA - Drops from Warchief Kargath Bladefist in the Shattered Halls (10%)
[Hammer of the Penitent] +227 Healing 6 MP5 16 INT 13 SPI - Drops from Mechano-Lord Capacitus in The Mechanar (15%)
[Dathrohan's Ceremonial Hammer] +227 Healing 0 MP5 13 STA 14 INT 18 SPI - Captain Skarloc in Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Heroic)
[Shockwave Truncheon] +317 Healing 6 MP5 24 STA 0 INT 0 SPI - Murmur in the Shadow Labyrinth (Heroic)
After that, I'll be waiting for either of the following from Karazhan:
[Shard of the Virtuous] +348 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 20 INT 0 SPI [Light's Justice] +382 Healing 0 MP5 16 STA 21 INT 20 SPI
Or I could do a ton of PvP and go after:
[Gladiator's Salvation] +375 Healing 0 MP5 18 INT 28 STA - 25200 Honor point 20 Eye of the Storm Mark of Honor - Has no MP5 or spirit, so highly unlike that I would pursue this
So for the moment, I may as well add a +30 INT enchantment to my current 1H weapon until something better drops from those instances.
Off-Hand Items
Probably an easy element to find upgrades for as I'm still using a L62 weapon, which is the [Mistyreed Torch of the Prophet] +28 Healing 13 INT 13 SPI. Probably the easiest upgrade to get is:
[Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm] +33 Healing 6 MP5 15 INT 15 SPI - Which is a reward from the quest "Ally of the Netherwing", starts with Mordenai at Netherwing Fields in Shadowmoon Valley.
After that comes (prior to Kara):
[Lordaeron Medical Guide] +46 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 10 INT 16 SPI - Lieutenant Drake in the Escape from Durnholde Keep (Heroic)
Neck Items
I have a pretty so-so necklace called [Pendant of the Marsh] +11 Healing 4 MP5 13 STA 10 INT 9 SPI. There's one possible upgrade here that is easy to get:
[Living Ruby Pendant] +35 Healing 6 MP5 24 STA 15 INT - About 90g at the Auction House, but I'll need to find a less expensive source because it only has 10 charges.
Now that I've upgraded to that, I'll be waiting for [Shining Chain of the Afterworld] to drop off of Netherspite in Karazhan.
So getting the drop from Auchenai Crypts may be my only hope.
Hands / Gloves
Not many choices over [Tempest's Touch] +41 Healing 2 MP5 10 STA 20 INT 6 SPI
[Prismatic Mittens of Mending] +55 Healing 7 MP5 23 STA 26 INT - Commander Sarannis in The Botanica - Better then Tempest's Touch, even without gem slots
[Light-Blessed Bonds] +75 Healing 0 MP5 21 STA 22 INT 25 SPI - 60 Badges of Justice, has (1) yellow and (1) blue socket
After that, it's time to wait for Gloves of Saintly Blessings from Attumen the Huntsman in Karazhan. So I'm going to buy a pair of Royal Nightseye and replace the pair of Royal Shadow Draenite. Which will get me 2 more MP5 until I can get the mittens to drop.
[Bishop's Cloak] +46 Healing 8 MP5 16 STA 17 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice, a deep dark purple cloak (might look okay with the PMC set)
[Light-Touched Stole of Altruism] +55 Healing 0 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - Exarch Maladaar in the Auchenai Crypts (heroic mode), nice white cloak but no SPI or MP5.
I'll probably enchant my cloak with [Enchant Cloak - Subtlety] or +7 to all resists or +15 to Shadow resist to reduce the chance of being feared in some situations.
Rings
Another area that I need to re-examine. There's a lot of options, so I need to sit down and decide which ones I like. What I have now are:
[Heirloom Signet of Convalescence] +44 Healing 0 MP5 7 STA 11 INT 5 SPI [Signet of Aeranas] +29 Healing 5 MP5 0 STA 12 INT 0 SPI
[Keeper's Ring of Piety] +42 Healing 7 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 18 SPI - I'll get this during the process of attunement for Karazhan. I'll be giving up 12 INT in exchange for 18 SPI, but also gaining some more healing and MP5.
[Band of Halos] +46 Healing 6 MP5 22 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - 25 Badges of Justice, this is probably the replacement for the Keeper's Ring of Piety. Assuming that I don't get something from Karazhan off of the Prince.
Basically, one ring will be for +healing and MP5, the other ring will be for +healing and stats. Trinkets
Currently, I'm using:
[Auslese's Light Channeler] +59 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI [Oshu'gun Relic] +53 Healing 0 MP5 0 STA 0 INT 0 SPI
Which is actually a pair of really good trinkets for a healing priest. The next step up would be a pair of +70 Healing trinkets (which would boost my +healing by 27). One is a Lower City Revered reward, the other drops in Black Morass from Aeonus. There's also a +84 Heroic Badge reward trinket (41 badges), which may be what I work towards.
Leg Equipment
I have [Imbued Netherweave Pants] +30 Healing 10 MP5 39 STA 12 INT 0 SPI
[Pontiff's Pantaloons of Prophecy] +55 Healing 0 MP5 12 STA 27 INT 24 SPI - Captain Skarloc in Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Heroic) - (1) red (2) blue sockets, which means it could be boosted a bit to provide (6) MP5, but I'd still lose out on 27 STA.
[Pontifex Kilt] +66 Healing 0 MP5 25 STA 29 INT 27 SPI - Warlord Kalithresh in the Steamvault (Heroic) - (1) red (1) blue (1) yellow socket, so it can be boosted to provide (6) MP5
If I happen to get the Whitemend Pants pattern, I may go ahead and make those:
[Whitemend Pants] +62 Healing 11 MP5 21 STA 21 INT 0 SPI - (1) red (1) blue (1) yellow socket, so it can be boosted to provide (6) more MP5
Feet Equipment
Wearing [Imbued Netherweave Boots] +23 Healing 8 MP5 30 STA 21 INT 0 SPI
[Slippers of Serenity] +35 Healing 0 MP5 10 STA 22 INT 15 SPI - Exarch Maladaar in Auchenai Crypts - (1) red (1) blue socket so could provide 4 MP5
[Boots of the Long Road] +73 Healing 9 MP5 25 STA 26 INT 22 SPI - non-BoP pattern from SSC or The Eye (raid zones) - Equivalent to the boots that drop from Shade of Aran in KarazhanLabels: 2008, WoWPriest

WoW: Boot options at L70
So it looks like I have (3) basic options for boots at L70:
Imbued Netherweave Boots 21 INT 30 STA 0 SPI +23 HEAL 8 MP5
Slippers of Serenity 22 INT 10 STA 15 SPI +35 HEAL 0 MP5 - (1) RED and (1) BLUE gem sockets which gives the following options - +12 STA and +3 MP5 - +12 STA, +9 HEAL and +2 MP5 - +18 HEAL and +4 MP5
Jeweled Boots of Sanctification 25 INT 22 STA 0 SPI +55 HEAL 6 MP5
Those are the two easy drops that can be obtained prior to L70 heroics or raids. But really, I plan on just sticking with my Imbued Netherweave Boots until I get something like [Boots of the Incorrupt] from Karazhan. Otherwise I'm giving up too much STA or MP5.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

Corish's gear wishlist for the grind to L70
The base parts of my L70 gear will be the (3) Primal Mooncloth pieces. I'll gain 5% mana regen while casting (boosting my MP5 another 12-15 points). Assuming that I socket these items with blue gems, it will work out to:
444 AC 48 INT +12 (socket bonus) +8 INT (gems) = 68 46 SPIRIT +15 (chest enchantment) = 61 294 +Healing +18 (gems) = 312 25 MP5 +8 (gems) +15 (approx bonus) = 48 0 STA = 0 (2) Yellow and (2) Blue sockets
So for gems, I'll want (2) Royal Nightseye (+9 healing, +2 MP5) in the blue sockets. For the yellow sockets, I'll go with Dazzling Talasite (+4 INT, +2 MP5).
Compared to my current gear (chest / shoulders / waist), that works out to:
AC: 118+88+67 = 273 vs 444 STA: 21+12+26 = 59 vs 0 INT: 15+13+17 = 45 vs 68 SPI: 8+10+0 = 18 vs 61 +Heal: 42+19+38 = 99 vs 312 MP5: 0+0+0 = 0 vs 48
So, everything with the PMC set (chest / shoulders / waist) will be a gain except for STA. I'll need to make sure to boost my STA through other gear (trading off INT/SPI). The really big boost is the +213 additional healing compared to my current set along with almost +50 MP5. And the boosts to INT/SPI will put me very close to 400 INT and 400 SPI (self-buffed).
Head Equipment
Ideally, I'd wear the Whitemend Hood - but until that recipe drops or I have another 500g to spare, I suspect I'll need to chase after other gear. Which basically boils down to the following few pieces:
[Scintillating Headdress of Second Sight] - Auchenai Crypts (Heroic), the look of this is similar to my Halo of Transcendance. So it seems like a very nice piece.
[Watcher's Cowl] - Cenarion Expedition - Revered reward (Vendor), looks like a brown cowl (hood) with purple / gold trim. Not my favorite look, but I'd probably just turn off helmet graphics. I'll have to sit down and decide whether I really want this item (I'm close to Revered with this faction already).
[Light-Collar of the Incarnate] - Karazhan (Prince Malchezaar), another nice looking piece. Plus it has sockets, so it can be boosted a bit.
And the Whitemend Hood isn't even that much better (+20 to +30 more healing) then my current gear (which is a crown dropped by Onyxia in the old-world). Which means that I'm leaning towards skipping the Whitemend gear. Pants
My current pants are L61 greens. So they're nothing special and need to be replaced. In addition, I plan on adding Silver Spellthread (+46 Healing, +15 Stamina).
[Imbued Netherweave Pants] - Tailoring. They're only L69 pants, but they have 126 AC, 26 INT, 39 STA, +30 Heal, 10 MP5.
[Lifegiver Britches] - Hellfire Ramparts (boss Nazan). 103 AC, 12 SPI, 25 INT, 16 STA, +44 Heal, (1) red and (2) blue sockets. These are only L60 pants, and probably an uncommon drop. But if I would socket them, I could gain +27 heal and +8 MP5. But all-in-all, the Imbued Netherweave Pants are better. And I'd have to spend a lot of time farming Ramparts to get the drop (probably 10-20 runs). By that point, I'd be L69 and could simply put on my pair of Imbued Netherweave Pants.
[Whitemend Pants] - These are tempting, if pricey at roughly 500g. With 156 AC, 21 INT, 21 STA, +62 Heal, 11 MP5 and (1) red (1) blue (1) yellow socket. Socketing would push them up by +18 Heal, +6 MP5, +8 INT. Which is a lot more +Heal and MP5 then the Imbued Netherweave Pants. But I'd be giving up on 18 STA.
[Pants of the Naaru] - Part of the Arcatraz key quest (I think). These have 130 AC, 25 SPI, 22 INT, 27 STA, +27 Heal. So compared to the Imbued Netherweave, I'm giving up about 10 MP5 and a little STA, but gaining spirit.
[Pantaloons of Repentance] - Karazhan (Netherspite). These are probably the "ultimate" upgrade for me down the road. With 170 AC, 27 STA, 34 INT, 26 SPI, +68 Heal, (1) red and (2) blue sockets. The socketed gems would boost it another +27 Heal +6 MP5 and +4 SPI.
Again, the Whitemend item would be nice, but I'm not going to kill myself trying to farm materials for it. I'll just wear my Imbued Netherweave pants. Especially since the next expansion is due out within the next year.
Wrist Equipment
Not a lot of good choices here. I sort of wish I had grabbed the [Goldenvine Wraps] from the Underbog quest, but I chose something else instead. So now I'm going to be stuck with my green bracers for quite a while. Some options might be:
[Light Scribe Bands] - Hellfire Ramparts (heroic) - Vazruden
[Vindicator's Mooncloth Cuffs] - PvP reward (meh...), but has a yellow socket
[Wristguards of Tranquil Thought] - 35 Badge of Justice (so I'd have to run heroics 35 times), has a yellow socket
[Bands of Indwelling] - Karazhan - Maiden of Virtue
[Bindings of the Timewalker] - Keepers of Time - Exalted reward (it's probably faster to earn the 35 Badges of Justice, or to grind out PvP honor)
Offhand Items
I have a nice torch here at the moment. But there are quite a few possible upgrades. Probably the nicest upgrade would be:
[Lamp of Peaceful Repose] - Arcatraz - Dalliah the Doomsayer
or
[Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm] - A level 70 quest chain that I'll probably complete anyways.
There's also 2 drops in Karazhan, 2 Badge of Justice rewards, and a reward from Cenarion Expedition (exalted). I'll probably go after the Netherwing Charm first, then wait and see if something else drops.
Main Hand Weapon
The item I have right now is 16 STA 11 INT +105 Heal and 5 MP5. A lot of the upgrades offer a lot more +Heal then that. The low level (relatively) quest rewards from some L70 quests start at +143 to +190 healing power.
I think I'm going to focus on getting through the Ring of Blood quest line for the [Mogor's Anointing Club]. Which is a 13 INT 19 STA +160 Heal and 5 MP5 mace.
After that, I'll probably wait on a Karazhan drop, or maybe the Shockwave Truncheon that drops in heroic Shadow Labyrinth.
...
That's probably the majority of gear upgrades that I want to focus on right away. Along with a few misc quests:
Ring of Blood quest line for the [Mogor's Anointing Club]

Prepping for Karazhan as a healy priest
So, Corish is L66 and a half, my PMC set is about done (about one more week of farming) and I'm running out of excuses to level up. But one of the goals of getting to L70 is also that I want to be ready for Karazhan. (Kara is a 10-man raid dungeon, considered the easiest of the post Burning Crusade dungeons. Our guild runs it about once a week.)
Some of the numbers that I've seen thrown around on the web work out to be:
Healing: +1000 (min) up to +1200 or +1400 MP5 (while casting): 120 up to 200 HP: 7000 hitpoints (buffed) Mana: 9000 mana (buffed)
Which probably won't be terribly difficult to attain the lower end of those numbers with just green/blue equipment. The Primal Mooncloth set is going to go a long way towards shoring me up. But I still need to put together a wishlist of gear that I want to go hunting for.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

Primal Mooncloth Set
I'm getting ready to push Corish to 70, but I also want to see if I can arrive at 70 ready to create a set of PMC gear. I say "set" because there are pieces that go together (belt, robe, shoulders), but it's not a full-fledged set with 5+ pieces. Naturally, it helps if you complete the following quest:
Becoming a Mooncloth Tailor
This quest results in the ability to create two pieces of PMC from the materials instead of just one (but you can only have a single specialization).
So, how much material do you need to create a PMC set? Lots!
Each piece of PMC (assuming that you didn't specialize in mooncloth) requires (1) bolt of imbued netherweave, (1) Primal Water and (1) Primal Life. This breaks down into the following source components:
(10) motes of life (10) motes of water (18) Netherweave Cloth (3 bolts) (2) Arcane Dust
A) Primal Mooncloth Belt (355 tailoring) - (4) PMC (2) Netherweb Spider Silk (8) Primal Life - (2) Netherweb Spider Silk - (120) motes of life - (40) motes of water - (72) Netherweave cloth - (8) Arcane dust
B) Primal Mooncloth Robe (375 tailoring) - (14) PMC (12) Primal Mana (4) Netherweb Spider Silk - (4) Netherweb Spider Silk - (120) Motes of mana - (140) Motes of life - (140) Motes of water - (252) Netherweave cloth - (28) Arcane Dust
C) Primal Mooncloth Shoulders (365 tailoring) - (8) PMC (8) Primal Life (2) Netherweb Spider Silk - (2) Nethwerweb Spider Silk - (160) Motes of Life - (80) Motes of water - (16) Arcane Dust - (144) Netherweave cloth
Which is a hella lot of motes and cloth... it's also 26 pieces of PMC (but only 13 for a mooncloth tailor) and the cooldown on creating PMC is about 4 days. Which means somewhere between 52 and 104 days to create those three pieces if you don't borrow anyone else's cooldowns.
In addition, the set comes with (2) blue and (2) yellow sockets.
...
Totals for the (3) PMC pieces - this does not take into account the other "primal mooncloth" pieces like the Whitemend pieces. This is just for the belt / shoulders / robe.
(8) Netherweb Spider Silk - this silk seems to be running for 4-5g per piece at the AH.
(420) Motes of Life (42 Primal Life) - Primal Life runs about 8-10g at the AH
(260) Motes of Water (26 Primal Water) - Primal Water runs about 16g at the AH right now
(120) Motes of Mana (12 Primal Mana) - Not sure on pricing for this, but figure 15-20g per Primal Mana.
(468) Netherweave Cloth - a stack runs about 3.5-4.0g
(52) Arcane Dust - which seems to run about 1.5g each
Which is something like 1220g worth of materials for the (3) pieces. Fortunately, I'll have no trouble farming the cloth, dust and motes of life with Falrok. And if I ever find the eel pool, I'll have motes of water. The spider silk and motes of mana may be my bottleneck, depending on how fast Snagg and Falrok level up in order to farm them.Labels: 2008, WoWPriest

WoW: Updated talent tree at 35-40
So, after leveling a lot more, I'm reconsidering some of my spec choices from earlier. While I don't have to re-spec yet, I'm shuffling some priorities around but still proceeding down the DISC tree.
The big change so far is putting 2 more points into Shadow (total of 7). Which gives me Spirit Tap (5) and Improved Shadow Word: Pain (2). The Spirit Tap ability gives me +50% mana regen after an XP giving mob dies (solo or a 5-man group, doesn't work in raids). And the Improved SW:P points boost the duration of my primary DoT spell by 30% (base is 18 sec, boosts to 21 sec then 24 sec).
What I was finding when soloing is that my SW:P runs out earlier then I'd like. Normally, I cast 2 nukes, one DoT, and my shield spell (PW:S) at the start of a fight, then use my wand for damage until the mob is dead. This keeps me well outside the "five second rule" (FSR), which means that I'm spending the second half of the fight getting mana back. On a good fight (mob within +/- one level), I can end the fight at around 80-90% mana, and the Spirit Tap buff that runs for 15 seconds will fill me back up (or close) before I pull the next mob.
However, because higher level mobs take longer to kill, SW:P was running out before the mob was below 10% health. Which means that I have to make difficult choices. I can either stop wanding and re-cast or try the wand the mob to death. If I recast spells towards the end of the fight, I put myself back inside the FSR box and I'll end the fight at 50-70% mana. If I don't re-cast, I'll end up at 50-70% health (instead of 85% or higher), which means I'll have to recast my armor buff and probably a heal.
So, hopefully, taking the 2 points in Improved Shadow Word: Pain, I'll be able to stick with my normal solo style of frontloading all of my spells in a burst, then simply wanding until the mob is dead. Which is a spec that looks like this.
Upcoming talent picks (up to level 44):
Mental Agility (5 points) - 10% less mana on insta-cast spells Divine Spirit (1 point) Improved Divine Spirit (2 points)
Level 45 to 59:
Divine Fury (5) - lower cast times Holy Spec (5) or Spell Warding (5) - not sure which... Improved Healing (3) Holy Spec (2) or Spell Warding (2) - not sure which...
For level 60 to 70:
Spiritual Guidance (5) Spiritual Healing (5) Spirit of Redemption (1)
At which point, I will probably un-spec the 7 points in Shadow.
Healing Prayers (2) Holy Concentration (3) Mental Strength (2)
Which puts me at 25 pts in DISC and 36 pts in HOLY. It's a bit of a hybrid build, but should be pretty effective in a wide variety of situations.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest, WoWTalents

WoW: Pickup group #3
Well, I figured my luck would run out eventually on PUGs (pickup groups) and it did. Last night, I did Deadmines (a.k.a. VC or Van Cleef) for the 3rd time. It was almost a level appropriate group (except for a 40-43 hunter) where everyone was in the 20-24 range. Except for a 15 twink warrior who insisted that because he had twink gear he could be the main tank.
One example of a typical fight: The warrior is running ahead and is around the corner, the warlock is off mining, while the hunter and rogue are with me fighting yet another set of mobs. And that's pretty much how it went the entire time. At one point I was tossing a renew, running 20-30 paces back towards the other room to toss heals, then running back.
Of course, it doesn't help that our warrior was an A.D.D. kid with no clue as to how poorly he was doing his job. I sit down to med up and take a drink (since I'm at 25% mana). The other 3 players wait with me. The warrior runs off and aggros mobs and gets killed and wants to know where I was ("sitting on my bum getting mana back"). Earlier, he had entered the instance before us (again... I'm sticking with the 40+ hunter and the other two players) and wants to know where I am ("I'm with the *other* 3 members of the group, where are you?").
Lessons learned from last night (after 4 deaths):
1) I don't care how much of a twink you are. If you're not at least within 1 level of the mobs inside (or higher) and you want to be the main tank... you can find yourself another healer. There's no way you can do enough damage, or establish enough aggro to make up for the amount of healing that you'll require. Which means that those mobs will be making a beeline for my cloth covered rump. (That was the cause of death #1 and death #3.)
2) If I'm running back and entering an instance where there are roving patrols, then you'd best be coming to escort me back to the party. And I'm not moving from the zone in point until I have buffed everyone and I'm back at full health and mana. (That was death #2.)
3) I'm not a miracle worker. If you can't all stick together, get on the same mobs, and avoid aggro, then I'm going to /hearthstone and ya'll can look for another priest. Getting through an instance is not a race and I don't give a rat's hind end about your DPS meters. (Death #4 was when the warrior, after getting his quest update, left group and ran off towards the exit.)
...
Still, if you can heal a dysfunctional pickup group, it's good training for when the proverbial brown stuff hits the rotating ceiling fan in a normal group or raid.
...
Note: A lot of this is tongue in cheek...
1) Never join a group where the main tank is more then 1-2 levels below the average mob in the instance. It doesn't matter how much of a twink they are, they'll require too much healing and they can't do enough damage/aggro to stop those mobs from chasing your cloth covered rump.
2) If everyone is taking aggro off the main tank... you're going to get beat on.
3) Pickup groups are either a race to be at the top of the DPS meter or else the group will be trying to set a record time for finishing the instance. And they won't tell you of their olympic aspirations at the start of the night, but you'll figure it out as your supply of drink and mana potions runs low after the first 45 minutes.
4) Carry at least 4 stacks of drink and 1 stack of food. And a few health and mana potions. If you're lucky, a kind soul in the group will hand you drink that will restore a fifth of your mana if you can find the time to sit and drink for 20 sec.
5) A good pickup group is one that fights simultaneously in the same general area of the dungeon. If you can see all of the other 4 members of the group at the same time, consider it good fortune that is unlikely to last. Most of the time, you'll be running back and forth between different rooms frantically casting heals as each party member solos a different room. So make sure you're wearing comfortable boots!
6) Sitting down to drink is apparently a signal for the group to pull the next set of mobs.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest

WoW: Why I roll healer classes
I like healing. There's a lot of personal joy / amusement to be had by pulling someone's fat out of the fire. I get great enjoyment out of saving younger players when they get a bad pull just as I happen to be running past. That, and it's fun to buff every player that runs past as I trot down a road.
For groups, I don't really care for the leader position. Having to know where to go, making sure everyone is following, giving directions, which mob to pull, etc. It's a lot of work and it's best done by a tank or scout class. I prefer a more passive role where I follow someone else's lead while making sure that everyone stays healthy. I can do the lead thingy, it's just not my cup of tea most nights. My group role is more about making sure that things are going well in the back while the tank / scout leads the front.
Then there's the god-complex when you have to make life/death decisions on the fly. It's a guilty pleasure. While I hate letting anyone die on my watch, I've been around in enough other games that I'm confident in my decisions. So I only feel guilty if the person died by accident. If it was on-purpose because I had other, more pressing, priorities or a lack of mana, then I let any complaints just roll off my back. But unless you're really an idiot, I probably won't let you die... but I may leave you at low health.
Lastly, it's really fun when it gets really crazy. That's where you earn the trust of your party members. When you get through a really bad pull, you're out of mana, everyone is at 10% health, but everyone lived... that's a good moment. It usually means that you judged aggro correctly, managed to put the right heals in the right place at the right time, and your party members start to think you're a psychic who can see the future.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest

WoW: Spell efficiencies at 20
Note: This is with (3) points in Improved Renew (which makes Renew 15% more efficient).
Renew(3): 201 hp over 15 sec for 105 mana = 1.92 Lesser Heal(3): 143-165 hp, 2.5 sec cast, 75 mana = 1.91 Heal(1): 304-351 hp, 3 sec cast, 155 mana = 1.96 Power Word: Shield(3): Shields 161 hp for 130 mana = 1.24
Renew(3) would probably only be 1.67 without the +15% specialization. PW:S(3) will get a 15% boost once I spend 3 talent points on it (boosting it to 1.43). And sometime before level 40, when I have 5 points in Mental Agility (+10% efficiency for insta-cast spells) that will boost PW:S(3) and Renew(3) to:
PW:S(3): 1.56 Renew(3): 2.11
Which will make Renew very worthwhile.
At level 22, I get Heal(2) which is 429-491 for 205 (2.09).
Level 26 gives me Flash Heal(1) 258-314 for 155 (1.66). I also get Renew(4) which should be 282 for 140 (2.01).
Level 28 gives me Heal(3) which is 566-642 for 255 (2.22).
Level 30 gives me PW:S(5), 301 hp absorbed for 210 mana (1.43) but I'll have spent 2 points in PW:S by then with the 3rd at level 31. So that works out to +15% or 1.65.
Level 32 gives me Flash Heal(3) 327-393 for 185 (1.77). Along with Renew(5) which will be 362 for 170 (2.13). That puts Flash Heal as my least efficient spell, with Renew in the middle and Heal(3) at the top of the list.
Skipping ahead to level 40. I'll have the following talent points: +15% Renew, +15% PW:S, and 10% less mana for insta-cast spells. I'll have the following spells at my disposal:
PW:S(6): 438 (381 base) for 225 (250 base) = 1.95 Renew(6): 460 (400 base) for 185 (205 base) = 2.24 Flash Heal(4): 400-478 for 215 = 1.86 Heal(3): 566-642 for 255 = 2.22 Heal(4): 712-804 for 305 = 2.33 Greater Heal(1): 899-1030 for 370 = 2.43
At least, I think that's how the values will work out. Looking at the values, I'll probably only use the following spells at 40:
Renew(6) 460 over 15 sec (2.24) Flash Heal(4): 400-478 in 1.5 sec (1.86) Heal(3): 566-642 in 3.0 sec (2.22) Greater Heal(1): 899-1030 in 3.0 sec (2.43) PW:S(6): 438 shield insta-cast (1.95)
While I'll be more likely to use Renew then Heal, it can be useful to have a decent efficiency slow heal that only does half of what Greater Heal does. That lets me be more efficient about topping up someone's health.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest, WoWSpells, WoWTalents

WoW: Possible talent tree for 20/30/40
I'm just getting started as a priest, and I'm overwhelmed by the number of acronyms used when discussing talent trees. So it's simply not sinking in. Also, because I'm trying to plan out my spec trees for lower levels (when you only have 10 / 20 / 30 points to spend), looking at the level 70 spec builds isn't helping me much.
My goal is to be either a disc or holy spec as I level up. The shadow tree really doesn't interest me, even though it would speed up solo play. I'm happy (at level 18) with my soloability, even if it takes me twice as long to kill stuff as a better solo class. (And it's really not *that* bad, I have a good wand, semi-decent gear, and I can crank through mobs that are my level or one higher.)
So my starting build for the first 11 points is: (Talent Tree) - DISC: Wand Spec (5) 25% more wand damage - DISC: Improved Power Word: Fortitude (1) - HOLY: Improve Renew (3) 15% better mana efficiency on a bread-n-butter spell - HOLY: Healing Focus (2)
What I'm not sure of is where to spend my next 10 points (and then the 10 points after that to get me to 40). I suspect, that my 10 points for levels 21-30 will be:
(1) in DISC: PW:F (3) in DISC: PW:Shield (for 15% more shielding) (5) in SHAD: Spirit Tap (1) in DISC: Martyrdom
Then for 31-40:
(1) in DISC: Martyrdom (3) in DISC: Meditation (5) in DISC: Mental Agility (-10% mana for insta-cast spells) (1) in DISC: Divine Spirit
That would put me within reach of getting Reflective Shield by level 50.
...
After getting input from some other Priests on the forums, it looks like I'll need to re-spec for level 20:
SHAD: (5) points in Spirit Tap (apparently this helps with mana regen)
HOLY: (3) points in Improved Renew (a lot of priests don't take this, but Renew is one of my bread-and-butter spells)
DISC: (3) points in the Wand Specialization (+15% to wand damage, useful for soloing)
Then for 21-30:
DISC: (2) more points in Wand Spec DISC: (2) in Improved Power Word: Fortitude HOLY: (2) in Healing Focus DISC: (2) in PW:Shield (for 10% more shielding) DISC: (2) in Martyrdom
For 31-40:
DISC: (1) more in PW:Shield (for 15% more shielding) DISC: (3) in Meditation (allows mana regen during spell casting) DISC: (5) in Mental Agility (10% less mana for insta-cast spells) DISC: (1) in Divine Spirit
For 41-50:
DISC: (2) in Improved Divine Spirit HOLY: (5) in Holy Specialization HOLY: (3) in Divine Fury (lower cast times)
For 51-60:
HOLY: (2) more in Divine Fury HOLY: (3) in Improved Healing HOLY: (2) in Searing Light (no good choices here) HOLY: (3) in Spiritual Guidance
For 61-70:
HOLY: (2) more in Spiritual Guidance HOLY: (1) in Spiritual Redemption
After that point, there are no obvious paths. I may not do Searing Light, but instead end up with this talent tree.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest, WoWTalents

WoW: Things I should've done different in last night's party
After thinking things over a bit, I've come up with a few things that I either need to read up on / or have explained to me / or do differently.
1) I need to keep my AC buff running at all times. My normal AC is around 215 and the buff adds another 315 (with an upgrade to that spell at level 20). It lasts for 10 minutes or 20 strikes. Overall, it would boost my physical damage reduction from 10% to 21%. Which would allow me to survive a little longer when being beat on. Last night's wipe was partially caused by me dying while I still had mana.
2) It's possible that the mage had rooted the mobs and I didn't move away from them. So I need to keep my eyes open and back away slightly from mobs that are hitting me every other swing.
3) I don't understand how the meeting stones work.
4) I saw a lot of graphics appearing on mobs or over mobs' heads that I didn't understand. Skulls, red pointy arrow thingys, red crosshairs.Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest

World of Warcraft - Surviving my first party (group)
So, I got sucked into my first party tonight in WoW. Up until this point, I'd been just soloing as a priest with my trusty wand and a relaxed pace. Any healing done was expected ahead of time (since I knew when I'd be taking damage). While I have healed other players, it's been mostly drive-by, toss a heal, have a nice day interactions.
The closest that I've gotten to a group has been where 2 or 3 players are all pulling from the same spawn area while working on quests. We'll, by undiscussed consent, stay out of each others way, but jump in to help anyone who looks over their head. So if we see that someone got a double-pull by accident, I'll yank the extra mob off of them and take care of it. Or I'll just toss a heal on them and watch their health until they get it back under control.
Another case would be where we have to clear a camp of multiple mobs in order to get access to some box / pail / barrel in the middle of the camp. I've been in that situation multiple times where the two (or three) players, without talking, simply take the camp apart in coordinated fashion. There's usually a "thanks" after all is said and done, but there's not the pressure of doing it as a party/group. That way, each person is looking after themselves and isn't expecting one of the others to make up for their mistakes. Although, naturally, as a healer, while I'm pulling my own mobs, I'm keeping a close watch on the players around me (if I can). Basically, you've formed an on-the-fly group which stays together just long enough to obtain the objective.
So, tonight's group. I had already turned down a "Deadmines" (the name of the zone) group earlier in the night. I was up in Loch Modan running quests, trying to get past level 16 - and I wasn't interested at that point in running all the way down to Westfall and over to Deadmines. But later on, after I finished all the quests up there that I was going to finish, and I had gotten to level 18 and bought my level 18 spell upgrades, I headed back down to Westfall. My initial plan was to go AFK at the inn by the gryphon trainer and then maybe solo for a bit longer trying to clean up some quests.
So after coming back from AFK and buffing anyone within reach, I headed off to the southeast corner of Westfall, to the area called Moonbrook. There's a meeting stone (which I don't understand yet) there called the "Deadmines Meeting Stone" so I figured if I hung around there I might pickup a group while I solo'd. After not too long, a 22 Rogue sends me a whisper asking if I wanted to get into a DM (Deadmines) group. I said sure, as long as it was a 1 hour instance and not a 3 hour marathon. Well, 1 hour is probably slightly optimistic for Deadmines. Unless you're in a group full of level 20 players who can plow through the content.
Now, we went into the instance with an odd setup. A 18 priest, 22 rogue, 16 hunter, 16 shaman, 18 mage. (Parties in WoW are limited to only 5 players unlike EQ1 & EQ2 that allowed up to 6). What that means for a primary healer is one big headache, because without a tank, aggro is going to be bouncing all over the place. Plus, it's a pickup group - so none of us are used to working with each other. It's also MY first group, so I'm still trying to get used to where WoW puts everyone's health bars and trying to figure out what heals to use when. Because when it comes to keeping the party alive, timing is everything.
Whee... it was close to 90 minutes of pure mayhem. There's so much going on the first time that you join a group that your head will be spinning. It started chaotically enough as we entered the dungeon in the section that is shared with other players. This involves a lot of leapfrogging, as you jump past where the other group is killing and then encounter mobs that haven't yet been killed. There's all sorts of new spells, noises, flashes of light, and just general chaos that the brain overloads and it's all you can do to try and keep track of the health bars.
As I said after we left the dungeon... "well, I'm sure there was pretty scenery down there, pity I didn't get to see any of it!".
So, tonight's "firsts":
- First party invite where someone messaged me first rather then blindly spamming an invite. One of my blind invites from earlier today was by a level ONE warrior in an entirely different zone.
- First party, complete with a hunter that was probably too young to be down there and who's pet was constantly taking aggro. But on the whole, after I figured out that the pet was taking aggro all the time, I started watching the pet's health at the start of a fight. (Yes, I did let the pet die by accident at the start.)
- First death of a group member. Oops! What happened was that as we mixed in with another player group, we got separated. The rogue and shaman were ahead while the rest of us were staying in place. Both groups got aggro'd by mobs at the same time and I was at a loss of who to heal first. Every time I went to heal someone who's health was dropping, I found out that I couldn't see them. In EQ1, you could heal through floors, ceilings, doors, as long as you were within range. In WoW, you have to be able to see your target in order to cast on them. So, our lovely shaman got killed during that little misadventure. Fortunately, she was a good sport about it.
- First use of a resurection spell. I found out that you can't cast the resurrect spell until 5 seconds after your last cast on someone in combat. Or the rule might be that the entire party cannot be in combat. I was unable to test it, I just know I had to wait a few seconds before I could rez the shaman.
- We had a few near wipes. I'm still trying to figure out which spells to use when. So while I'm relying on a lot of shields (not so efficient) and heal over time (efficient), I'm having trouble gauging when to start the longer casting heals. This would've been a lot easier if we had a designated tank (besides the level 16 pet which was too low to hold aggro well). Mana wasn't much of an issue. In my past experience as a priest / cleric, I've learned how to save mana for a rainy day as much as possible. When I buff the group, I start at the top, and work my way down through the list slowly over a number of minutes. That way, while buffing, my mana never drops below 75%.
- We had a full group wipe. I blame this one on not having a dedicated puller, it being a pickup group who still hadn't gotten the flow down yet, and it was a difficult section of the instance. Sadly, I died with mana left. I had mobs beating on me, but I was so focused on everyone else's health that I forgot to check mine. We might've survived if the shaman hadn't gone AFK about 60 seconds before the pull. Even then, maybe not, because we didn't have a dedicated tank to collect aggro off the lighter armor classes. So with the extra healing I needed to do, I was going to end up as dwarf-paste on the floor anyway.
Once you wipe in an instance, the normal method of recovery is that everyone stays in ghost form and heads back to the entrance to the instance. Then, when you're ready, everyone should zone in. The bodies will be laying at the entrance of the instance.
...
So, my first pickup group wasn't too bad. It's a shame that we wiped and didn't complete the instance. OTOH, there wasn't a lot of finger-pointing or smack talk. Nobody made a bad situation worse by complaining. It was a good learning experience as I got exposure to what some of the other party members could do. (I never expected a mage to lay down a heal over time buff on the rogue.)Labels: 2007, WorldOfWarcraft, WoWPriest
